ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - A man accused of stabbing a friend to death early Tuesday morning in St. Cloud is being held on $1 million bond.

22-year-old Robin Russell Hanson from Deloit, Iowa, made his first court appearance and is facing a charge of 2nd degree murder.

Andre Tirrel Reaves was allegedly stabbed in the chest and died at St. Cloud Hospital.

Police say the two men traveled together from Deloit to stay at a house on the 1600 block of Oak Grove Road over the weekend.

Witnesses at the house say an argument turned violent and saw Reaves lying in a pool of blood.

One of the witnesses says Hanson went to his vehicle after the stabbing and then went back into the home.

When officers arrived on scene Hanson's vehicle was running.

Investigators say Hanson initially claimed he was asleep at the time of the stabbing, but he said he did hear arguing and then he saw the blood.

Hanson eventually admitted to law enforcement that he fought with Reaves and that "he did it" because he panicked.

Hanson allegedly told police that he put the knife in his vehicle.

Investigators recovered the knife that appeared to have blood stains on it.

Hanson faces up to 40 years in prison if convicted of 2nd degree murder.
