ST. CLOUD (KNSI) - We're in the final run up to Halloween, and believe it or not, for some folks, that means still finding the right costume.

It's a last-minute scenario that keeps Michael Anderson, owner of Invincible Costume in downtown St. Cloud, very busy.

"Last night, someone came in and wanted the entire set of Wizard of Oz - I get calls like that," Anderson says. "People are going to do a lot of work things. College kids - they'll party on thursday no matter what. And there are still parties on Saturday."

Anderson's shop contains an estimated 8,000 costumes, and he outfits around 70 theatrical productions every year. He says he won't stock prepackaged costumes, and instead designs and sews most of them by hand.

Anderson says he's seeing a revival of classic costume requests this year - everything from 1920s flappers to superheroes to pirates.

However, his Halloween customers have a little costume competition.

"There's a lot of theatre going on right now," Anderson explains. "So, from the beginning, I was thinking, 'I've got to pull this one before it's rented for Halloween. Otherwise, I have to spend 2-3 days sewing a new one."

Anderson says, while costume rentals costs at Invincible might be higher than average - some reaching as high as $125 - he thinks the ensembles are worth it.

"95% of these are made right here - satins, velvets, the best materials we can find," Anderson says. "When someone sees somebody in our costumes, I want them to ask, "Where did you get that?"

Americans are expected to spend roughly $7 billion on Halloween this year.
