LINO LAKES, MN (KNSI) - A Lino Lakes man struck and killed a bear as he was driving near his home earlier in the week.

Authorities say a bear came out of nowhere into the path of Chris Jordan's car while he traveled down Otter Lake Road around 10:30 Monday night. Jordan struck the 200 pound bear which authorities later found dead in a ditch. Jordan, who says his car is likely totaled, had two passengers in the car but no one was hurt.

Earlier this week, a bear attacked and killed a dog near Zimmerman. That bear had cubs along, and a DNR official says it was likely protecting those cubs when it attacked and killed the dog.
