ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) Thursday will not be a nice day for traveling in Minnesota.

In fact, the National Weather Service says it will be extremely dangerous and travel is not advised. Blizzard watches and warnings are posted for the western and central portions of the state.

A powerful arctic front will move in from the northwest, and bring with it very strong winds that could gust to near 55 miles per hour. That will cause blowing and drifting snow and the potential for whiteout conditions.

The Blizzard Warning--which does include the St. Cloud area--is in effect until midnight.

In addition to the strong winds, temperatures will be falling throughout the day, and by tonight, wind chills could be near 30 below zero.

St. Cloud picked up two-tenths of an inch of snow Wednesday, bringing the seasonal total to an even 27 inches.
