ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - A vehicle crashed into a power pole between Cold Spring and Richmond, knocking out power to homes and businesses in the area.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says David Minnerath said he was driving east on County Road 83 Saturday morning at 8:12 when a vehicle turned in front of him.

To avoid hitting the vehicle the 62-year-old from Cold Spring went into a ditch, hitting the power pole.

The top half of the power line pole became entangled with some lower lines, cutting out power to the area.

The lights at the intersection of Highway 23 and County Road 71 were out and a deputy and state trooper directed traffic.

The driver of the other vehicle was 67-year-old Harvey Eggert, of Cold Spring.

Gold Cross Ambulance arrived on the scene and treated both drivers, each of which refused transport to a hospital.

The sheriff's office says the crash remains under investigation.
