St. Cloud, Minn (KNSI) - Congressman Tom Emmer will be in St. Cloud Friday to meet with the St. Cloud VA and local veterans to address concerns raised in a report that was never made public.

The 2013 investigation by the inspector general reportedly found problems with work conditions, staffing issues and canceled appointments.

Congressional committees tasked with monitoring the VA were never told about the report, and it was never made available to the public.

After the report finally came to light, Emmer said that he was considering legislation that would require the VA to make all future inspector general reports public.

Emmer and Congressman Tim Walz will meet with VA officials and area veterans Friday afternoon at the American Legion Post in St. Augusta.

St. Cloud VA Spokesperson Barry Venable says the report was not shelved, and it has served as the impetus for ongoing improvement actions at the VA.
