ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - Stearns County Breakfast on the Farm is celebrating a decade of bringing families together.

The Breakfast on the Farm takes place Saturday, June 3rd, from 7:30 to 12:30 at the Kuechle Dairy Farm near Eden Valley.

Tom Peterson, with the Breakfast on the Farm Committee, says it's a hands-on agriculture awareness event for all ages.

"There's a severe disconnect and people don't know necessarily where their food comes from, so we saw a need to open the doors and let people see how cows are taken care of and other animals for that matter."

He says people just don't have many opportunities go see a farm.

"More and more people are further and further removed from agriculture, right now it’s probably two-percent of the population or less is actually involved with production agriculture."

The breakfast is $5 a plate and includes pancakes, french toast, sausage, eggs, milk, juice and coffee.

Children five and under eat for free.

Admission to Breakfast on the Farm and the activities are free.

Some things to do include guided tours of the farm, an obstacle course for children, a petting zoo full of baby farm animals, horse-drawn wagon rides, color a picture in the children’s activity area, take a ride on the little farm hands train, have your picture taken with a newborn calf, and enjoy an ice cream cone or cheese snack with a Dairy Princess.

To get to the farm park at Eden Valley Elementary School's parking lot, 901 Stearns Avenue East in Eden Valley. Free shuttles will run continuously to take people to the farm.

There is no public parking at the farm.

The event draws 2,500 to 3,000 people a year and is held rain or shine.

Stearns County is the largest livestock and dairy producing county in the state and the 16th largest dairy producing county in the nation.

June is National Dairy Month.

KNSI's sister stations 104.7 KCLD will be broadcasting from the farm from 8 to 10 and Wild County 99 will be broadcasting from 10 to noon.
