HIBBING, Minn. (AP) A 35-year-old special education teacher from Hibbing says he's running for Minnesota governor as a Republican.

Rob Farnsworth says he intends to seek the GOP endorsement to challenge Democratic incumbent Mark Dayton next year.

Farnsworth is making his second run for political office. In 2010, he sought Republican endorsement to run against then-U.S. Rep. Jim Oberstar, but dropped out when Chip Cravaack won the GOP nod.

Farnsworth describes Cravaack as a model. He says like Cravaack, he, too, would bring a strong union background to the race. The father of three says he also wants to reform education.

Businessman Scott Honour, Hennepin County Commissioner Jeff Johnson, state Sen. Dave Thompson and state Rep. Kurt Zellers are among Republicans running for governor.
