ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - A woman died after being struck by a vehicle in St. Cloud.

The police department says the 19-year-old is believed to have stepped off the median in front of a vehicle that was northbound on County Road 75 (Roosevelt Road) at around 4:20 Wednesday morning.

The crash shut down the road, between 33rd Street South and 36th Street South for several hours.

Investigators say the driver of the vehicle that hit the woman, 59-year-old Mohamed Abdi Egal, stopped immediately, along with another vehicle behind his.

Paramedics responded but the woman's injuries were too severe, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say Egal was on his way home from work and was not impaired, and he is cooperating with investigators.

Police say the stretch of road where the crash happened, near Grundman Motors, is quite dark.

The 19-year-old victim is originally from Michigan.

The investigation is ongoing.
