ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - The Minnesota Governor's Fishing Opener is looking for fishing enthusiasts to serve as hosts during the event in St. Cloud.

The Fishing Opener Executive Committee says the hosts will take media guests fishing.

Hosts will need their own motorized boat, their own equipment, a fishing license and safety gear required by Minnesota law.

Hosts will receive a commemorative fishing opener package worth several hundred dollars.

Officials point out that hosts do not need to be experts, just committed to helping people enjoy the opener.

The 2017 Minnesota Governor's Fishing Opener is being held on the Mississippi River in St. Cloud on May 11-14.

An application to become a host can be found here, and you can also call 320-202-6728.
