RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) Residents of western South Dakota and southwestern North Dakota are bracing for heavy rain and strong winds a week after a major early fall blizzard.

The system moving into the region on Friday could bring a couple inches of rain and winds gusting to 65 mph. The National Weather Service has posted wind warnings and advisories and is urging residents to beware of flash flooding.

Crews in both states are still working to restore power to thousands of customers left in the dark by last weekend's storm, which dumped up to 1 ½ feet of snow in southwestern North Dakota and 4 feet or more in parts of South Dakota's Black Hills.

Crews also are working to remove damaged tree limbs that could be blown down during the new storm.
