ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) A historic, dangerously cold air mass will arrive in Minnesota Saturday night and persist through Tuesday morning.

A Wind Chill Warning is in effect for this time period. Highs of 10 to 20 below zero and overnight lows of 15 below to 35 below zero are expected.

The coldest wind chills are forecast for Sunday night and Monday morning, with widespread readings of 55 to 65 below zero.

The National Weather Service says these will be the coldest temperatures in Minnesota since 1996, and the second-coldest wind chills ever recorded in the state. All-time record cold high temperatures are possible Monday.

On Friday, Governor Mark Dayton announced all public schools in the state will be closed Monday due to the dangerously cold weather conditions. St. Cloud State University and St. Cloud Technical and Community College will also be closed.
