ST. PAUL (KNSI) - St. Cloud State now waits.

The Huskies were on the wrong end of a 4-1 final to the Wisconsin Badgers in the semi-finals of the WCHA playoffs. The loss continues a tough stretch for the Huskies in St. Paul, as they have lost 6 out of their last 7 in the conference tournament. Ben Hanowski was responsible for the lone score for the Huskies, when he evened it at 1-1 on a power play in the first period.
The score may have been somewhat lopsided, but the play on the ice was not. The Huskies controlled the majority of the action throughout, but could not get any shots past Badger goaltender Joe Rumpel who finished with 30 saves. All of his "saves" were not of the normal variety. Late in the first period, Husky forward Nic Dowd had an open net, but Badger Goaltender Rumpel appeared to throw his stick, sending the shot just wide. Officials reviewed the play for several minutes and decided that it was accidental.
Now the Huskies are scoreboard watchers. The went into the game ranked 7th in the Parawise rankings, which decides who is selected for the NCAA tournament. Wisconsin continues on to take on the winner of the Colorado College and Minnesota Gopher match-up set for 7pm tonight at the Xcel Energy Center.
