ST. JOSEPH, Minn. (KNSI) - A man was taken to the hospital after trying to stop his semi tractor-trailer from rolling out of a parking lot and into cross-traffic.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office reports the incident happened just after 3:30 pm on Tuesday in the parking lot of Tiremaxx Service Center on County Rd. 75 in St. Joseph.

The semi, which was in the parking lot, began to roll while the driver was inside the store. When the driver, 70 year-old William Pike of Stanchfield, saw the semi begin to roll toward the road, he attempted to stop it.

The semi subsequently rolled across both lanes of traffic on 75 before coming to rest in the north ditch.

Pike was taken by Gold Cross Ambulance to St. Cloud Hospital with unspecified injuries.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office was assisted by St. Joseph Police and St. Joseph Fire and Rescue.

The incident remains under investigation.
