AUSTIN, Minn. (AP) - A judge has terminated parental rights for a southern Minnesota couple who spent six months in jail for chaining their 5-year-old son to his crib.

Mower County District Judge Fred Wellmann ruled Thursday that the couple's two sons will never live with their parents again.

Brian and Charity Miller of rural Dexter pleaded guilty to chaining the 5-year-old to his crib. The couple also was accused of withholding food and access to the bathroom from him and his 8-year-old brother.

The Post-Bulletin of Rochester reports the judge found that the county proved that terminating the Millers' parental rights is in the children's best interest.

The boys are in protective custody with a foster family.

Attorneys for the Millers were not immediately available for comment.
