MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.. (KNSI) Musicians with the Minnesota Orchestra were expected to be locked out of work at midnight.

Orchestra management and musicians failed to reach a new contract agreement during two hours of negotiations Sunday.

Management rejected two proposals from musicians Sunday. One would've sent the dispute to arbitration; the other would've allowed the musicians to play during negotiations.

The musicians unanimously rejected management's final offer Saturday that would've cut salaries an average of 34 percent.

Management said Sunday it was disappointed musicians didn't make a financial counter-offer. No new talks are scheduled.

Under the lockout, musicians can't report to work and won't be paid. The Minnesota Orchestra season is scheduled to start Oct. 18.
