ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series race returns to the Granite City Speedway on Tuesday.

Spokesperson Tony Veneziano says fans are always in for a treat when they come out to the 3/8 of a mile clay track.

"They put on a great show sometimes honestly it's hard to describe it without seeing it because it's a sensory experience, I mean you feel the ground shake, you hear the cars, and you actually smell the racing fuel."

He says sprint cars are light weight and can reach speeds of up to 130 mph.

"Those guys step on the accelerator and those cars just go. The track record at Granite City Speedway is about 10.7 seconds and that's one of the fastest tracks on the circuit."

NASCAR stars Tony Stewart, Kyle Larson, Kasey Kahne, and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. all own cars that are racing on the track.

The sprint car series goes to 60 tracks across the country but this is their only stop in the St. Cloud area. The race starts at 7:30.
