MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Authorities say a driver who crashed his Jaguar in downtown Minneapolis had a blood alcohol content more than four times the legal limit.

Police say 48-year-old John Thomas Peters of Minnetonka ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle Sunday. A criminal complaint says an initial breath test showed a result of .40. A second test registered .39. The legal limit in Minnesota is .08.

Minnesota State Patrol Lt. Eric Roeske tells KSTP-TV (http://bit.ly/qBHXWx ) a blood alcohol content that high is "incredibly rare."

Peters has been cited 10 times for alcohol-related traffic offenses dating back 30 years.  He was driving on a restricted license that forbids him from drinking alcohol.

Peters remained held at the Hennepin County Jail Wednesday.  He was scheduled to appear in court Friday.
