ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - A St. Cloud Area School District elementary principal has stepped down for medical reasons.

Jean Clark has resigned her position at Madison Elementary due to a medical procedure that will require a lengthy recovery.

District 742 says after Clark recovers she will return to Madison as a district consultant to provide support for new teachers.

Clark is being replaced by Talahi Community School Principal Kate Flynn.

Flynn led Talahi for three years, implementing co-teaching strategies, STEM initiatives, collaborative parent and community engagement opportunities as well as other transformative changes for academic success at the school.

Flynn worked previously for 17 years in the St. Paul Public School District, including as principal of a creative arts elementary school and principal of an international magnet school.

The district will announce an interim principal for Talahi elementary soon.
