ST. PAUL, MN (AP) - Prosecutors in three metro counties plan to re-test evidence in about 350 pending drug cases previously tested at the St. Paul Police Department crime lab.
St. Paul police suspended drug testing at their crime lab in July following reports of shoddy procedures.
Ramsey County Attorney John Choi, Washington County Attorney Pete Orput and Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom released a joint statement Wednesday. The statement says cases from all three counties that were previously tested by the St. Paul police crime lab would be re-tested by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
According to the statement, the St. Paul Police Department has agreed to pay any overtime costs associated with the re-testing.
Minnesota Public Radio News ( reports St. Paul police don't know yet how much the testing will cost.
