SARTELL, MN (KNSI) – Eyewitness tip leads to Sartell police nabbing a suspected car prowler Sunday morning.

Sergeant Wayne Schreiner says an eyewitness called police Sunday morning after noticing a teen lingering around vehicles in the 100-block of 11th Street North. Officers responded, and arrested 18 year-old Richard Staples Junior.

Schreiner says Staples entered a garage and stole a bike and some alcohol. Other victims reported money being stolen from their vehicles.

Staples was held in the Stearns County Jail on charges of fourth-degree burglary, receiving stolen property, criminal damage to property, tampering with a motor vehicle, theft and underage consumption of alcohol.
