ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - The second annual Rock for Alzheimer’s (R4A) will raise funds for the fight against the disease later this month.

The concert in St. Joseph will feature the music of Slip Twister, Collective Unconscious, Walter’s Wheelhouse and The Killer Vees.

One of the shows organizers Tommy Vee, the son of late music legend Bobby Vee and member of the band Killer Vees, says the show is a chance for friends and family caring for loved ones dealing with Alzheimer's to have an opportunity to share their stories.

"Having gone through it we found that being able to tell your story really, really helps and it's amazing how all the stories are similar but really different because no two people have the same experience with this disease."

Bobby Vee was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2011 and passed away from the disease on October 24th, 2016.

"It's just sad, I think everybody is, if not one degree, two degrees away from this disease."

The Alzheimer's Association says 91,000 people are living with the disease in Minnesota.

The family friendly show goes from 1-8 on September 23rd, in the parking lot behind Bad Habit brewery immediately following the St. Cloud Walk to End Alzheimer's.

Admission is a free-will donation.

A new event this year is a youth talent stage for younger musicians to show off.

A portion of the proceeds go to the St. Cloud Walk to End Alzheimer's and The Bobby & Karen Vee Scholarship for Youth Arts & Music in Central MN.
