ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - The St. Cloud Rox have advanced to the Northwoods League World Series with an extra innings win over the Mankato Moondogs.

The Rox won 5-2 in the 12th inning.

The Rox were down to their final strike of the season in the 9th inning trailing 2-1 with the tying run on 3rd when Ricardo Sanchez (Arkansas Pine-Bluff) drove in Matthew Tarantino (Pacific).

Drew Avans (Southeastern Louisiana) smacked the go-ahead 2 run double in the 12th inning, and Trevor Putzig (Tennessee Tech) delivered an RBI single for the fifth run.

Closer Brent Killam (Georgetown) threw 3 innings and finished the game.

The Rox will take on Battle Creek for the Northwoods League title.

Both teams finished the regular season with a 42-30 record.

Game 1 in the best of three series will be at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud on Wednesday at 7:05.

It will be the last home game of the year for the Rox before finishing the season in Game 2 or 3 in Battle Creek.
