ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - The St. Cloud State University community came together Sunday night to remember one of its own.

"Tonight we will light our candles in memory of Jesse Dady," is how SCSU Interim President Ashish Vaidya started the vigil.

Family, friends and fellow students gathered on the Atwood Mall to share memories of the 21-year-old biochemistry major.

"He was really loving and caring, just the nicest guy. One of the best friends you could want," said Drake Thompson, Dady's roommate

Thompson said, while Jesse lived a fun life and didn't have any regrets, he thinks Jesse would want everyone to learn from what happened to him.

Dady's body was recovered from the Mississippi River at 6:21 Friday night.

Police believe he fell into the river from the railroad bridge behind Empire Apartments around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 25th after leaving the downtown bars.

"While the news on Friday was not the outcome we all were praying for, it is my sincerest hope that your memories of Jesse will bring you some peace," Vaidya told Jesse's parents.

"Thank you for sharing Jesse with us since he joined the St. Cloud State family in 2013."

The vigil concluded when red balloons containing hand written messages for Jesse were let go into the sky.
