ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - St. Cloud State University will continue to provide a welcoming environment for more students in recovery thanks to a $77,000 grant from the Otto Bremer Foundation this December.

The grant is part of $10.7 million in grants and a program-related investment the St. Paul-based Otto Bremer Foundation made this fall to 110 organizations in Minnesota, North Dakota and western Wisconsin.

The grant will fund a recovery community coordinator to lead the St. Cloud State Recovery Community, according to Jennifer Sell Matzke, St. Cloud State assistant dean of students.

The program provides housing and programing for students recovering from a substance use disorder. Today the community serves seven residents in recovery with about 30 total students participating in the program.

Sell Matzke said the addition of a dedicated full-time staff member will allow the program to grow and serve more students.
