FOLEY, Minn. (KNSI) Benton County commissioners approved courtroom security changes during their meeting Tuesday.

The changes will require people to pass through a metal detector if they're attending a court hearing, meeting with a probation officer or paying a fine.

The changes move the building's metal detector to the main entrance of Courts Facility building. It was previously in a location where visitors would not need to pass through it unless they were attending a court hearing. The change was recommended by the county's criminal justice committee.

Court administrator Tim Roberts says the cost of relocating the metal detector--$4,900--will be split between the county and the state.
