CROW RIVER TOWNSHIP, Minn. (KNSI) - Two local women suffered injuries after a horse became frightening, throwing one of the women and hitting the other, according to Stearns County authorities.

The incident happened along Stearns County Road 32 near Crow River Township just after 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner said.

Investigators said Jessica Schafer-Frikken, 28, of Sartell was riding the horse, while Tara Werner of St. Cloud was leading the animal when the horse suddenly became spooked and started running.

The sudden action threw off Schafer-Frikken, who landed on the driveway and hit her head. She was air lifted to St. Cloud Hospital.

Werner, 28, was also hit by the horse and knocked down. She was taken to St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre. Their conditions were not immediately known, although Sanner said they were both responsive when emergency personnel arrived on scene.
