ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) The St. Cloud Regional Airport was the scene of a full-scale, mock disaster drill Thursday night.

Police, fire and medical personnel from Stearns, Benton and Sherburne counties took part.

Airport Director Bill Towle says the scenario for this year's drill was a mock commercial plane crash on the airport grounds. He says the full-scale drill is a requirement of  the Federal Aviation Administration every three years.

He says it's held to ensure that in the event of an actual disaster, the airport and first responders will respond, "as quickly, as efficiently, and as well as we can."

A new twist to this year's drill was a mock press conference KNSI News took part in.

The airport will hold its next full-scale disaster drill in 2016.
