ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) The St. Cloud City Council last night extended the "Built It in St. Cloud" program for another six months.

The program reduces building fees by up to $1,500 for new single-family homes that are built.

It will start up again in March and last for six months. It will be limited to 30 permits, with half of those permits reserved for lots that have been foreclosed on.

The extension passed on a 5-to-2 vote. Councilwoman Carol Lewis says the program provides a good incentive to get construction workers back to work.

Councilman John Libert voted against the extension, saying he wanted to see a program that targeted more home buyers. He says the program is more of an incentive for home builders, and he's not sure how much of those savings are actually passed on to the buyer.
