ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - More than 1,200 XCel Energy customers were without power in northern areas of St. Cloud and Sauk Rapids early Thursday after a vehicle hit a power pole, knocking out one of the company's transmission lines, an XCel Energy spokesman said.

The vehicle took down the line on 11st Street North between 36th and 37th avenues North around 6:25 a.m. Thursday, XCel Energy spokesman Tom Hoen said.

At the height of the outage, 1,203 customers were affected, Hoen said.

Crews quickly worked to re-establish that line and almost all of those XCel customers had power restored by 9 a.m., Hoen said.

As for the freezing temperatures Thursday morning, Hoen said the company was not finding any weather-related problems across their power coverage area.
