ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - St. Cloud State University will unveil the selection of its new athletic director at a news conference Friday morning, the school announced Thursday.

The announcement will be made by St. Cloud State President Earl Potter at 9 a.m. Friday in the school's Welcome Center, 355 5th Ave. South.

Three candidates interviewed for the position and met with the public Wednesday.

Those interviewed this week included Josh Fenton, associate athletic director-external relations at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio; Daniel J. Schumacher, director of athletics at Lewis University in Romeoville, Ill.; and Heather Weems, associate athletics director/senior woman administrator at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

Search committee chairwoman Wanda Overland said her committee gathered feedback from individuals participating in the interview process and presented that information to Potter for his consideration.

The new AD will take over the outgoing SCSU sports head Morris Kurtz. Kurtz is retiring in June after 28 years at St. Cloud State.
