ST. CLOUD, MN (KNSI) - A task force overseeing the future of health care in the state was in St. Cloud this week.

During a meeting at the Le St-Germain Suite Hotel downtown, members of the Minnesota Health Care Reform Task Force talked about how to improve the health of Minnesotans and how they're treated by doctors and insurance companies.

St. Cloud Rep. Steve Gottwalt is on that committee and he has concerns about the direction of the task force itself.

"It has focused much less on health care reform and much more on implementing Obamacare and that has been a bit frustrating," Gottwalt said.

The push for Obamacare in Gottwalt's mind is in danger of overshadowing the task force's stated goal of coming up with so called "Citizen Solutions" defined as answers to problems Minnesotans have in getting and paying for good health care.

"They are well down the road towards building [Obamacare] and I would challenge any Minnesotan to tell me what it is going to do, or how it is structured, or what kind of commitment it is making on behalf of Minnesotans," Gottwalt said.

Finding from the task force will be presented to the Governor and state lawmakers next year ahead of the 2013 legislative session.
