MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Firefighters from Station 6 in Minneapolis have saved more lives in one year than most firefighters do in years.
The station is credited with saving 8 lives in less than a year, including residents who were trapped in a home on Saturday. Unfortunately, one person died, but firefighters rescued four others from the burning home, including a baby.
Station 6 firefighters have pulled seven people from burning buildings, each time risking their own safety. An eighth person, who threatened to jump from a bridge into interstate traffic, was saved by a captain. KSTP-TV ( says firefighters cut holes in a chain link fence over the interstate and Capt. J.R. Klepp was able to reach through and prevent the man from landing in traffic.
