ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - Well over 100 business leaders from around central Minnesota gathered to honor a few of their own on Thursday during the St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce's annual Business Awards Luncheon.

The ceremony, held at the Holiday Inn and Suites in St. Cloud, recognized Bob Strack of construction firm Strack Companies with the "Entrepeneurial Success award," Lee Hanson of law firm Gray Plant Moody as this year's "Small Business Advocate," and Scott Warzecha, founder of Netgain as the "Small Business Owner of the Year."

Warzecha tells KNSI News his success in creating his successful Healthcare IT provider, with around 70 employees, is a testament to the strength and talents within the St. Cloud business community.

"There's a lot of power here, and a lot of skills sets and talents," Warzecha says. "The way we organize, and the way the St. Cloud Chamber organizes itself, that's the key - knowing how to organize the work. That's a successful community - one where people network and communicate."

As for young people hoping to start their own company, Warzecha says it's more than possible - you just need to seek advice from those who have attempted and succeeded.

"A lot people will tell you not to start a business - that it's scary - and those are the people who've usually never tried," Warzecha says. "So talk with people who've done it, because they're the ones who've succeeded, failed, analyzed the risks and know which are real and which are imagined."

The St. Cloud area Chamber has been recognizing business leaders from around central Minnesota with these awards for 26 years.
