ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - A tornado watch was issued for portions of central Minnesota, including Stearns, Sherburne and Benton counties as a storm system moves through the region late Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

The watch covering 15 counties remained in effect until 3 a.m. Thursday.

In addition to Stearns, Sherburne and Benton counties, other area included in the watch were Aitkin, Cass, Chisago, Crow Wing, Hubbard, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Pine, Todd and Wadena counties.

Temperatures were expected to continue with highs in the 90s Thursday before tapering off Friday.  Forecasters called for a chance of thunderstorms every day through the weekend.
