ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - Local authorities have two separate death investigations on their hands.

The St. Cloud Police Department received a call Sunday afternoon about a possible body on the ice of the Mississippi River near the Granite City Crossing Bridge.

Responding police officers found the body of a deceased 21-year-old woman on the ice.

The body is believed to connected to a missing persons call the department received earlier on Sunday.

While they were investigating, authorities came across a male body on the west bank of the river.

Due to the condition of the body, investigators believe it was likely there for quite some time.

Authorities do not believe the two cases are connected.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation of the woman found on the ice, while the St. Cloud Police Department is heading up the investigation into the male body found on the bank of the river.
