MINNEAPOLIS (KNSI) - The Minnesota Vikings passing attack was firing on all cylinders and their defense was able to shutdown the New Orleans Saints offense in a season opening win at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Vikings quarterback Sam Bradford looked great, going 27 for 32 passing for 346 yards with three touchdown passes in the 29-19 win.

Going into the Monday Night Football matchup Minnesota's offensive line was in question, since the five starters were all starting at a new position, but they only allowed one sack.

"Our guys up front played great tonight, they really kept me clean all night long, they gave me plenty of time to really sit back there and evaluate things and find the open receiver,  and then they did a great job in the run game," Bradford said.

The offensive line was stout in the running game, rookie running back Dalvin Cook racked up 127 yards rushing on 22 carries.

Bradford's main target in the end zone was Stefon Diggs who caught two TD passes and had 93 yards receiving.

Diggs' longest grab was a 30 yarder where he got rocked by a Saints defender and drew a personal foul penalty that would setup a touchdown.

"I love the contact, I play a contact sport so I love getting hit, especially when they go out of their way to hit you hard, my job is to catch the ball," he said.

Adam Thielen had a huge night as well, catching nine passes for 157 yards.

Obviously a big story line going into the game was Saints running back Adrian Peterson returning to U.S. Bank Stadium, but the Vikings defense shut Peterson down.

Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer was very pleased with his teams' performance, especially during the second and third quarters.

"I thought going down and scoring right before the half and then getting a field goal in the second half and kind of doubling up on them, I thought that was big," Zimmer said.

The Vikings travel to Pittsburgh next Sunday to take on the Steelers at 12:00 p.m.
