WACONIA, MN – (KNSI) - Governor Mark Dayton didn't catch a walleye for the second straight year during the Minnesota season opener.

Dayton, who has never hidden his lack of angling prowess, nonetheless noted the warm, sunny weather and said he had ''a great morning.'' Dayton did catch a morning sunfish on a leech while walleye fishing with area guide Travis Frank.

Dayton fished from midnight until 2 a.m. Saturday on Lake Waconia and again from about 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Frank says the high sun and calm winds made for challenging conditions.
