SCSU HUSKIES 24 DAKOTA STATE UNIVERSITY 1 (3/11/17) Tucson, Arizona

The Huskies bats were awake early on Saturday morning, they collected 17 hits in support of their pitching staff. Lefty Shannon Ahern a lefty from Academy of the Holy Angels High School started on the mound. He threw four innings to earn the win, he gave up just 3 hits and he recorded 6 strikeouts. Ryan Wesley, a sophomore from Holmen, Wisconsin threw 1 inning of relief, he recorded a strikeout. Logan Sandgren a 6'1" lefty from BOLD High School threw 1 inning of relief, he recorded a strikeout. T. J. Frericks a lefty hand from Apollo High School, threw one inning of relief, he retired the 3 batters he faced.

The offense was led by by five individuals that had multi hit games, Cody Rutledge a senior from Bemidji went 2-2 with 2 doubles for 2 big RBI's and he scored a pair of runs and Isaac Matchinsky a 6'3" lefty from St. Cloud Tech went 2-3 with 3 RBI's and he scored a run. Ethan Ibarra a sophomore from Las Vargas, Nevada had a huge game, he went 4-6 with a 2 doubles for 3 RBI's and he scored 4 runs. Cooper Maas a junior from Burnsville went 2-5 with a double for 4 RBI's, he walked and he scored 4 runs. Mitch Mallek a 6'1" lefty from Plover, Wisconsin went 2-3 with a sacrifice fly and 4 RBI's, he walked twice and he scored a pair of runs. Trevor Cho a freshman from Mequon, Wisconsin went 1-3 with 2 RBI's and he scored 2 runs and Jackson Goplen a junior from St. Croix Lutheran went 1-3 with a double for a RBI and he scored a run. Hayden Gerlach a transfer from Grand Canyon University, a junior, had a pair of RBI's, he walked twice and he scored a pair of runs. Mathew Meyer a 6'1" sophomore from Sauk Rapids went 1-3 and he scored a run. Judd Davis a sophomore from New Ulm went 1-2 with a walk and he scored 2 runs and Aaron Hamman a freshman from Parker, Colorado, walked and he scored a run. Bo Schmitz a junior went 1-3 with a RBI, he scored a run and he was hit by a pitch and Logan Swan a senior from Redwood Valley High School had a RBI and he scored a run.

 


SCSU HUSKIES 16 WALDORF, IOWA 6 (3/11/17) Tucson, Arizona

The Huskies defeated Waldorf, backed by the pitching of freshman Aaron Hamann from Parker Colorado. Aaron threw 5 innings, he scattered 5 hits, gave up 2 runs and he recorded 3 strikeouts. The veteran right hander from Sauk Rapids, David Kroger threw 1 1/3 innings of relief, he gave up 1 hit and he recorded a strikeout. Kyle Boser a sophomore from Little Falls threw 1 inning of relief, he walked one and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Lefty Tyler Gentz closed it out with 2/3 of a inning of relief.

The Huskies were pounding the ball, as they collected 17 hits, one of their leaders was Cathedral graduate, a junior Bo Schmitz. He had a big game, he went 3-6 with a double for a RBI, he had a stolen base and he scored a run. Hayden Gerlach a 6'4" junior from Parker, Colorado went 2-5 with a home run and a double for 3 big RBI's and he scored a pair of runs. Cody Rutledge a senior from Bemidji went 2-2 with 2 doubles for 3 RBI's, he walked and he scored a run. Mathew Meyer a 6'1" sophomore from Sauk Rapids went 2-4 with 2 RBI's, a pair of walks and he scored two runs. Judd Davis sophomore from New Ulm went 1-2, with a sacrifice fly for a RBI, 2 walks, he scored a pair of runs and he was hit by a pitch. Jordan Joseph a freshman from St. Michael-Albertville went 1-4 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI, he walked and he scored 2 runs. Zach Metzger a senior from Sunnyvale, Texas went 1-3 with a double for a RBI, he walked 3 times and he scored 3 runs. Logan Swan a senior from Morgan, Minnesota went 2-5 with 2 RBI's and he scored a run. Ethan Ibarra a sophomore from Las Vegas, Nevada went 2-5 with a triple for a RBI and he scored a run. Jackson Goplen a Junior from St. Croix Lutheran High School went 1-1 with a homerun.

 


SCSU HUSKIES 14 OKLAHOMA PANHANDLE UNIVERSITY 2 (3/12/17) Tucson, Arizona

The Huskies had their hitting shoes on again early on Sunday morning, as they collected 14 hits to support the Husky pitching staff. Cal Giese a lefty from Plover, Wisconsin started on the mound, he threw 4 innings. He threw 0 hits, walked one and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Matt Butler a sophomore from Naperville, Illinois threw 1 inning of relief, he gave up 2 hits, walked one and he surrendered a run. Zach Iten a 6'2" freshmen from Watertown-Mayer High School threw 1 inning of relief, he gave up a walk. Luke Hansen a senior transfer from North Dakota University threw 1 inning of relief, he gave up 1 hit, 1 walk, 2 runs and he recorded a strikeout.

The big offensive leaders for the Huskies were four that had multi-hit games. Zach Metzger a transfer from Texas A @ M Corpus Christ went 3-3 with 2 doubles for 4 big RBI's and he scored a run. Cooper Maas a transfer from North Dakota University went 2-3 with a RBI, he walked and he scored 2 runs. Jackson Goplen a junior from St. Croix Lutheran went 2-3 with a double and he scored a pair of runs. Ethan Ibarra a transfer from the College of Southern Idaho went 2-2 with a RBI, a stolen base and he scored 2 runs. Jordan Joseph the Husky shortstop went 1-2 with a sacrifice bunt, he walked, had 2 RBI's and he scored a pair of runs. Bo Schmitz a transfer from Bemidji went 1-3 with 2 RBI's, he was hit by a pitch and he scored 2 runs. Mathew Meyer a Sauk Rapids graduate went 1-3 with a double for a RBI and Mitch Mallek a sophomore from Stevens Point Area High School went 1-3 with a double and he scored a run. Shannon Ahern a freshman from Inver Grove Heights went 1-1 with a double and Logan Swan a senior from Morgan, Minnesota, had a RBI, he walked and he scored a run. Hayden Gerlach a 6'4" junior had a sacrifice fly for a RBI, Isaac Matchinsky a 6'3" 255 pound freshman had a sacrifice fly for a RBI and Aaron Hamman a freshman from Chaparral Hight of Colorado earned a walk.

 

SCSU HUSKIES 11 OKLAHOMA PANHANDLE UNIVERSITY 1 (3/12/17) Tucson, Arizona

The Huskies defeated Panhandle University in their 2nd game of a double hitter, backed by a senior right hander, Austin Casperson, from Boelus, Nebraska. He threw 4 innings, he scattered 5 hits, walked one, surrendered one run and he recorded a strikeout. Kyle Boser a 6'2" right hander from Little Falls threw 1 1/3 innings of relief, he gave up a hit and he recorded one strikeout. T. J. Frericks a transfer from Wabash Valley College retired the one batter he faced and Miles Nablo, a 6'1" senior from Eden Prairie, closed it out with 1 inning of relief, he gave up a hit.

The offense collected 12 hits, led by Ethan Ibarra a sophomore transfer from Idaho Univesity went 1-3 with a grand slam for 4 big RBI's and he had a sacrifice bunt. Mitch Mallek a sophomore from Stevens Point Area High School went 2-4 with a double for a RBI and he scored a run. Jordan Joseph a freshman and a Kimball Express Amateur player went 2-4 with 2 RBI's and he scored a pair of runs. Bo Schmitz a St. Stephen Steves Amateur player went 1-2 with a double for 2 RBI's and he scored 2 runs. Judd Davis the Huskies 2nd baseman went 2-3 with a walk and he scored a run. Cody Rutledge a Bemidji Blue Ox Amateur player went 1-1 with a double. Cooper Maas a North Dakota transfer went 1-5 with a RBI. Zach Metzger of Sunnyvale High School of Texas went 1-2 with a double, he was hit 2 times by a pitch and he scored 2 runs. Jackson Goplen a junior from St. Croix Lutheran went 1-3, he was hit by a pitch and he scored a run. Mathew Meyer a St. Stephen Steves Amateur player had a sacrifice bunt, one RBI and he scored a run and Hayden Gerlach from Valor Christian High School of Colorado earned a walk.


SCSU HUSKIES 12 WESTMONT 3 (March 13, 2017) Tucson, Arizona

The Huskies ended their spring trip with a big win over WESTMONT College 12-3, they are ranked Nationally #22 NAIA. The Huskies won eight consecutive games on their spring trip, averaging 16 runs per game. They outscored their opponents by a hefty 123-22 margin. Lefty Dominic Austing started on the mound, he threw 4 1/3 innings, he scattered 4 hits, surrendered 3 runs and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Lefty Zach Giggelkow a sophomore from St. Anthony Village High School threw 2 2/3 innings, he gave up 2 hits and he recorded 1 strikeout. Veteran David Kroger threw 2 innings to close it out, he face six batters and he recorded 2 strikeouts.

The Huskies collected 17 hits, led by lefty, Mitch Mallek from Stevens Point Area High School, went 2-4 with a double, he walked, scored a pair of runs and he was hit by a pitch. Cooper Maas a junior went 3-6 with a RBI and he scored a run and Zach Metzger a senior from Sunnyvale, Texas went 1-4 with a double for 2 RBI's, he walked twice and he scored a pair of runs. Sophomore Mathew Meyer had a good game, he went 2-5 with a double for a RBI, he walked and he scored 3 runs. Jackson Goplen a junior went 3-4 and he walked and sophomore Logan Swan went 2-5 with 4 RBI's. Freshman, Jordan Joseph went 2-4 and he scored a run and Bo Schmitz a junior had 3 walks and he scored 3 runs. Senior Cody Rutledge went 1-1 with a RBI and freshman, Aaron Hamman went 1-2 with a RBI.
