St. Cloud Technical College Baseball Round-Up

ST. CLOUD TECHNICAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE RECAP

The St. Cloud Technical Community College Cyclones play in the National Junior College Athletic Association. The Minnesota Community College League includes 17 different schools. All the Minnesota Schools are in Region 13; which includes teams from North Dakota and Wisconsin. Check out the Cyclones school web site for further information.

SCTCC CYCLONES 10 CENTRAL LAKES RAIDERS 0 (5 Innings) (5/12/17 @ Putz)

The Cyclones defeated conference rival the Raiders, backed by some very good hitting and good defense. Ricardo Garcia a sophomore, a big 6'3" right hander from Goleman High School of Florida was the Cyclone starting pitcher. He threw a complete game, in 6 innings he gave up just 4 hits, issued one walk and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Justin Barreneche a sophomore from Barbara Goleman High School of Hialeah, Florida had a very good game. He went 3-4 with 2 big RBI's and he scored a pair of runs. Matt Quade a freshman from Paynesville High School went 1-3 with a 2 run home run, a blast they went of 400' over the center field fence, he had 3 big RBI's and he scored a pair of runs. Justin Mohs a freshman from St. Cloud Tech High School had a very good game, he went 2-2 with a pair of doubles, he was hit by a pitch and he scored a run. Adam Gilsrud a sophomore from Andover High School had two big sacrifice flys for a pair of RBI's. Isaiah Almanza a sophomore continue his good play at his shortstop position, he went 1-3 with a walk and he scored a run. Fabio Espinosa Gutierrez a sophomore from Bolivar, Colombia, went 1-2 with a sacrifice fly and he earned a walk. Carlos Reyes a freshman from Hialeah High School of Florida went 1-4, Johnathon Fernandez a sophomore from SLAM Charter School of Doral, Florida earned three walks and he scored a run. Zach Fuecker a freshman from Sauk Rapids High School earned a pair of walks, he was hit twice by a pitch and he scored a pair of runs.

Nik Gasner was the Raiders starting pitcher, he threw 3 innings and he was the pitcher of record. Devon Brown went 3-3 and Austin Bevins went 1-2 for the Raiders.

 

SCTCC CYCLONES 13 CENTRAL LAKES RAIDERS 3 (5 Innings) (5/12/17 @ Putz)

The Cyclones collected 13 hits including four players with multi hit games, this gave their pitchers a great deal of support. Jonathan Sodergren the Cyclones starter, sophomore from Bloomington Kennedy High School. He threw 4 innings to earn the win, he gave up 7 hits, 3 runs, issued 2 walks and he recorded 5 strikeouts, to earn the win. Michael Wiesmann a sophomore from Moorhead High School threw the final inning in relief, he issued one walk and he recorded one strikeout.

Leading the offense was a freshman from Paynesville High School, Matt Quade went 3-4 with a double for a total of 3 RBI's, he had a stolen base and he scored a run. Justin Barreneche had a very good game he went 2-4, including a 390' home run to straight away center field and a double. He had a stolen base and he scored 2 runs. Jonathan Fernandez went 2-3 for 4 big RBI's and he scored a run and Zach Fuecker went 2-3 with a 380' plus home run for 2 big RBI's and he had a stolen base. Isaiah Almanza the Cyclones shortstop went 1-1, he earned 3 walks, three stolen bases and he scored 3 runs. Adam Gilsrud went 1-2 with 2 RBI's, he walked and he had a stolen base. Justin Mohs earned a pair of walks, 3 stolen bases and he scored a run. Carlos Reyes had a sacrifice fly and a stolen base, Ethan Carlson earned a walk and a stolen base and Jose Rosario was hit by a pitch.

Levi Jeska was the pitcher of record for the Raiders. Mike Tvellbakk had a double and Brady Moulzolf had a home run.
