BEMIDJI BLUE OX 2 SARTELL MUSKIES 1 (9/2 @ Green Isle)

The Blue Ox of the Northern Border League and Region 10C defeated the Muskies of the Sauk Valley League and Region 1C in a pitchers dual. The Blue Ox's Ryan Hirt a lefty, started on the mound, he threw 4 innings, he gave up 5 hits, issued 4 walks and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Connor McNallan threw 5 innings in relief to earn the win, he issued 3 walks, surrendered one run and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Cody Rutledge a current St. Cloud State Husky went 1-4 for a RBI and Cody Benson went 1-3 for a RBI. Connor McNallan went 1-3, he earned a walk, a stolen base and he scored both of the Blue Ox runs. Matt Baier went 1-2 and he earned a walk and Zach Braun went 1-4.

The Muskies, veteran lefty, David Deminsky, a former stand out at St. Cloud State, started on the mound, he threw a compete game. He scattered 5 hits, issued a pair of walks, surrendered 2 runs and he recorded 11 strikeouts. In this writers eyes, this was one of two very big upsets in the entire Class C tournament. The Muskies left 16 base runners stranded, they just couldn't get any timely hits. Adam Schellinger went 2-5 and Cody Partch went 2-4 to lead the Muskies offense. Brian Schellinger went 1-5 with a double and he scored a run and John Schumer went 1-4 and he earned a walk. Jake Sweeter went 1-4 and he was hit by a pitch, Jace Otto earned 3 walks, Tim Burns earned 2 walks and Braeden Dykhuizen earned a walk. The Muskies did have a great season, they compiled a 28-5 record, along with the Sauk Valley League and Region 1C Championships. Along with regular season championships at the their invitational "Oman Insurance" Invite and the Farming Flames Invite. Look for a couple of their veteran players to be back next season and for the Muskies to be even a better team for the 2018 season.
