Player of the Week: Lucy Gaetz

For the Week Of Nov 20, 2012

After a lopsided loss in their opening game, the St. Cloud Icebreakers needed a lift to get their first victory. That lift came from between the pipes and senior goalie Lucy Gaetz.

For her efforts, Gaetz is this week's Metro Sports Commission Player of the Week, the first player to nab the honors as we move into the winter sports season.

Gaetz stopped 16 shots on goal en route to a 5-0 Icebreakers win over Willmar on November 16th. The senior had a lead 36 seconds into the game thanks to a goal from Junior Mackenzie Feeney. As it turned out, that is all Gaetz and the Icebreakers actually needed as she turned away shot after shot.

The Icebreakers will continue to look for the shut-out efforts from their senior goalie who gained plenty of valuable experience last year. As a junior Gaetz posted a 90% save rate and had 3 shut-outs on her way to a 10-12-3 record in over 1200 minutes in net.

Congrats to Lucy Gaetz on her MSC Player of the Week Honors and best of luck to all teams as the winter season begins.

Congratulations Lucy Gaetz on being the All Star Trophy and Awards Player of the Week!
