Sports for Friday, August 22nd


MLB: Twins 4, Indians 1

-       Twins avoid the sweep behind Phil Hughes, who picked up his 14th win of the season

-       Hughes is on a historic pace, sporting the 3rd best strikeout-to-walk ratio in baseball history. He has 148 strikeouts to 15 walks.

-       Great game from Kennys Vargas who went 3-4, with a RBI and 2 runs scored

-       Detroit Tigers come to town tonight for a four game weekend series, including a double header tomorrow

-       Tommy Milone (6-3) looks to rebound from his last outing where he was hammered. 


NFL: Eagles 31, Steelers 21

-       Full schedule tonight has five games on the docket

-       Vikings have their dress rehearsal tomorrow night in Kansas City against the Chiefs, kick-off is set for 7pm

-       Adrian Peterson is expected to travel with the team, but he has missed the last two days of practice for what is being called personal reasons.


-       Forbes released the Top 10 list of best fan bases. Although the Vikings missed out on the Top 10, two NFC North teams did make the list. Toping the list was the Green Bay Packer fans, and at 10 are the Bears.



-       Don't forget, come Monday Kevin Love will be a Cleveland Cavalier. According to the latest reports the Wolves will end up with Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett and Thadeus Young, while shipping out Love and other minor players including Alexy Shved.


High School Sports:

-       Football season is a week away and we have you covered on the Metro Sports Commission. Tech vs. Sartell will be on KNSI.


College Sports:

-       St. Cloud State is heading to East Lansing again to take on the Michigan State Spartans in college basketball. The game will take place on November 7th, the Huskies made the trip in 2012.
