Sports for Monday, October 27th

MLB: Giants 5, Royals 0

-       Giants now hold a 3-2 lead

-       Madison Bumgardner tossed a 4 hit shutout for his 2nd win of the series

-       Off night tonight as the series shifts to Kansas City

 

-       Sad note in baseball, Cardinals 22 year old Oscar Taveras, passed away in an auto accident. His girlfriend died in the accident as well. Two weeks ago he had a game tying HR in the playoffs against the Giants

 

NFL: Vikings 19, Bucs 13

-       Defense was the story as they had 5 sacks and forced 2 turnovers, including the game winning fumble return by Anthony Barr 

-       The Vikings have improved to 3-5 with the win

 

Other NFC North games:

Lions 22, Falcons 21

-       Detroit trailed 21-0 at halftime and made a FG as time expired for the win

Patriots 51, Bears 23

-       Tom Brady threw for 5 TD's as the Bears trailed by 31 at halftime

Saints 44, Packers 23

-       This game was 16-16 at halftime, but Packers fell apart despite 418 yards passing from Aaron Rodgers

 

-       4 Passers had more than 400 yards passing on Sunday (Roethlisberger, Luck, Foles and Rodgers) first time in NFL history

 

-       Bears Defensive Tackle Lamaar Houston injured his knee celebrating a sack of Tom Brady. The Bears were trailing by 25 points at the time. He will have a MRI today. Lions LB Steven Tulloch tore his ACL celebrating a sack earlier this year.

 

Monday Night Football: Redskins @ Cowboys, 7:30pm on ESPN

 

NHL: Wild @ Rangers, 6pm drop of the puck

-       Wild are 4-2 on the season, Rangers are 4-4

 

NBA:

-       Wolves are working out a buyout with guard JJ Barea which will make him a free agent

-       Wolves open their season Wednesday on the road at Memphis

 

College Hockey:

-       St. Cloud State split the weekend series with Union

-       Huskies will be at home Friday night against the Minnesota Gophers

-       Bob Motzko Coaches Show tonight at the Green Mill on KNSI at 6pm

 

NASCAR: Dale Earnhardt Jr. won at Martinsville. No one clinched a spot in the finale

 

MSC on KNSI this week: 

-       Tuesday Night: Sartell vs. Alexandria, Girls Volleyball, 8-3A Section Quarterfinals

-       Thursday Night: 6-2A Girls Volleyball Quarterfinals (If Rocori and/or Cathedral win Tuesday)
