MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minnesota coach Jerry Kill hasn't hesitated to single out the position that's the most critical toward the team's improvement this season.
Wide receiver.
The Gophers ranked next-to-last in the Big Ten last year in yards passing per game, and their top target of the last two seasons, Da'Jon McKnight, is gone. That leaves a large group of intriguing and talented but unproven players to step in.
Freshmen Jamel Harbison and Andre McDonald and junior college transfer Isaac Fruechte are challenging returners Devin Crawford-Tufts, Brandon Green, Victor Keise, Malcolm Moulton and Marcus Jones for spots.
Kill says he thinks the Gophers have the players they need but that they'll have to ''learn and get ready to play here in a quick fashion.''
