Granite City Hockey Classic Results: Day 1

St. Cloud, MINN - KNSI

St. Cloud Area High School Hockey games were in action today for the Granite City Hockey Classic.

St. Cloud Apollo defeated Sartell 2-1. Jason Omann scored in the 1st period, and Brandon Bissett scored in the 2nd period for Apollo, giving them a 2-0 lead. Spencer Zweiner had the lone goal for Sartell late in the second period. Neither team scored in the 3rd period. The All Star Trophy of the game was award to Apollo Goalie Nick Althaus, who had 14 saves.

Sauk Rapids Rice defeated St. Cloud Tech 6-2. Sauk Rapids-Rice scored 5 unanswered goals starting in the second perioid when they trailled Tech 2-1. 2 of those goals were scored by the All Star Trophy Player of the Game Wyatt Orth. Other goals for Sauk Rapids-Rice came from Nathan Shelander, Brandon Duray, Joseph Streeter, and an empty net goal from Cole Boughton. Braden Altena and Ethan Hopper had the goals for Tech, both which came in the 1st period. 

St. Cloud Cathedral defeated River Lakes 6-1.

Providence Academy defeated Monticello 3-1.
