ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - Never leave early. With less than 1 second of the game clock, Kevin Gravel buried his second goal of the night in one of the most entertaining endings to a hockey game you will ever see.

The ending wasn't what the Huskies wanted as Miami got a 5-4 win to take a 1-0 lead in the best of 3 series.

It was a back and forth game early as the first two periods saw the RedHawks and Huskies trade goals and head into the second intermission with Miami holding a 2-1 lead.

After swapping goals again in the 3rd period, Miami took a 3-2 lead but again the Huskies answered with an even strength goal from Nic Dowd. But the theme throughout the evening was the RedHawks ability to answer the bell every time SCSU scored, and this was no different. A minute later, Miami pushed their fourth goal by Ryan Faragher to give them the 4-3 advantage.

But the ending of regulation will go down as one of the best in hockey history. After pulling goaltender Charlie Lindgren, the Huskies made a push with a man advantage. A penalty with 9 seconds remaining gave the Huskies a short two man power play, and Kevin Gravel made it count. After a scrum in front of the net kicked the puck wide, Gravel hammered it home as the horn blared. After reviewing the score for a few minutes, the refs decided that it was indeed good and sent the game to overtime.

In overtime the Huskies had chancs, hitting a post once, but Miami had the final answer as they scored the game winner in the first overtime. The win means that Miami is one win away from advancing to the Frozen Faceoff next weekend.

The Huskies will take on Miami in game two of the series, William Integracare Pregame gets started at 6:40 on AM 1450 FM 103.3 KNSI.
