St. Paul, Minn. (KNSI) - The St. Cloud State Huskies Men's Hockey Team took on the Ferris State Bulldogs for their first game of the NCAA Tournament at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

Scoring got going very early as Ferris State's Maloney found the back of the net just 2 minutes into play. It would take only :15 seconds for the Huskies to answer as Jacob Benson got one of his own to tie the game at 1-1. With under a minute left in the first Jared Vanwormer of Ferris State would get their second goal of the night and the teams would head to the locker room with the score at 2-1.

Similar to the first period, the second period would start with a goal for the Ferris State Bulldogs. This one would come off the stick of Babinski. Again, as things went in the first period, the Huskies would find the answer, and this time it was Freshman Mikey Eyissimont. To continue with the existing scoring trend, Gerald Mayhew of the Bulldogs would score on a Husky turnover, and the score would sit at 4-2 all the way to the break.

Leading into the third period trailing by a score of 4-2, the Huskies were looking for some life and to turn things around. They would make a step in that direction with Mikey Eyissimont's beautiful powerplay goal to make it 4-3. Not much long later, the high-octane Senior Joey Benik would score for the Huskies to tie the game at 4-4.

The overtime period would not last long, as the Bulldog's first odd-man rush turned into a goal just :18 seconds into the OT period.
