ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - The St. Cloud State Husky Women's Basketball team suffers their first loss of the season to the University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs with a final score of 75-74, and the Husky Men's team gets a victory with a final score of 98-74.

The Husky Women trailed for the entire duration of the game, with the widest point gap being 12, which came in the middle of the second half. The Huskies were able to come back to trail by 1 with second remaining of the game, but were unable to put the game away after missed freethrows by UMD.

Chelsea Nooker was the Gator Truck Player of the game with 22 points and 4 rebounds. Betsy MacDonald and Lexi Petermann also added 14 points each.

"It's a shot in the heart because we should have won that game." Lexi Petermann told KNSI's Barry Hein following the loss.

Barry Hein also spoke to Assistant Coach Jessica Hartmann after the game. She was still optmistic after the loss.

"I have no doubt this team is going to bounce back." She told Barry.

The Husky Men's team kept their lead throughout the entire game, and defeated UMD 98-74.

The Men's team lead for a majority of the game, and started to run away with the lead in the second half where at one point they lead by 22 points.

3 Players were awarded the Gator Truck Players of the game. Connor Niehaus had 18 points, and 6 rebounds, Scotty Stone had 19 points along with 4 rebounds, and Donnel Cegers had 20 points and 4 rebounds, 

"We just knew we needed the win." Donnel Cegers told Barry Hein. "After losing a couple, you get way more competitive."

Barry Hein was also able to talk to Coach Matt Reimer after the game.

"It's so nice to play well and play with confidence going into the break." Coach Reimer told Barry.

The Huskies are in action again on Tuesday, December 30th against non-conference opponents.
