MARYVILLE, Missouri (KNSI) - One of the most successful campaigns in the history of St. Cloud State athletics came to a close Saturday as the Husky football team lost in the Super Region 3 finals to Northwest Missouri State 59-21.

The Bearcats of NW Missouri jumped on the Huskies with four scores in the first half and stymied the potent SCSU offense while taking a 28-0 lead into the locker room at halftime.

St. Cloud State did manage a pair of touchdowns in the 3rd quarter. Senior quarterback Philip Klaphake threw the final touchdown of his sterling career to Dan Brown who ended the season with 11 touchdown catches.

Another Husky senior found pay dirt for the second score as tailback Michael Walker stiff-armed his way into the end zone from five yards out at the end of the third. The rushing score was the 20th of the season for Walker.

Even with the two scores SCSU never came closer than 21 points in the 2nd half.

Klaphake scored the final time on the season for the Huskies in the fourth. A scramble on a designed quarterback keeper showed signs of vintage Philip Klaphake that Husky fans have seen so often over his four year career.

The loss finishes off a season that saw the Huskies win more games than ever before, including 2 in the post season, the most ever in a single appearance in tournament play. The final record for the Huskies in 2013 stands at 12-2.
